Why

Dead Man’s Bones holds a very special place in my heart. While in high school my love for horror was flourishing. It had expanded into my musical tastes helping me discover Dead Man’s Bones. It was the first album I ever bought without hearing any of the songs before and I instantly fell in love. My love for all things spooky and music had finally collided. This album is so raw and continues to pull at my heart strings every time I listen to it. Fun Fact: The band consists of two members, Zach Shields and Ryan Gosling (yes, THAT Ryan Gosling). They became a pair because of their mutual love of ghosts and monsters. Gosling and Shield play every instrument heard on the album, even if they’ve never played them before. They limited themselves an average of three takes per song, creating perfection within the imperfections. I’m always inspired by the story telling on this album, making it easy to imagine each song as a little horror film. I can’t live without horror or music, so I’d need this album with me on the island, to survive, realistically. -Emily
